March 2001- BRAC University started by BRAC
2002 - Masters in Development Studies
The program in Masters in Development Studies was introduced to equip students interested in and concerned about development issues and problems from all over the world with the necessary skills and knowledge to tackle and deal with these issues.
2003 - School of Law
Based on the need to impart certain principles and provisions of law an undergraduate program in Law has been introduced. The program is expected to prepare students as professionals in the legal arena.
January 2004 - Bi-Annual
Journal
The first issue of bi-annual BU Journal was published. The journal publishes original research papers, short communications, book review, review papers/articles of academic and professional interest of all disciplines.
February 2004 - James P. Grant School of Public Health
The school of public health offers a one-year modular program leading to an MPH degree. The main goals and purpose of this school is to offer a unique learning environment which will enhance, educate and empower graduates to solve problems in the field of health using skills in epidemiology, bio-statistics, modern management, environmental health, nutrition, research, disease control and the social aspects of health and disease.
July 2004 - Institute of Education and Development
To facilitate the enhancement of the pedagogical development an Institute of Education
and Development (lED) has been initiated. lED is expected to help institutionalize professional capacity development in the education system and assist in improving the quality of education in the public as well as private sector.
August 2005 - Centre of Governance Studies
Centre for Governance Studies has been established to offer post-graduate degrees and undertake research in areas of governance and development.
In order to address the complex challenges of governance, an MA in Governance and Development has been introduced. It is a multidisciplinary program and experts from
world-class academic intuitions have been brought together to run this MA program, the main partner being the
Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
2005 - Postgraduate programs in Disaster Management Studies
A series of modular postgraduate programs leading to certificate, diploma and masters in disaster management has been initiated with support from Oxfam. The objective is to train
professionals well equipped with the latest development in risk and disaster management.
2005 - CSE Research Centre
Centre for Research on Bangla Language Processing was instituted. The Centre is funded by International Development Research Centre (lDRC), a public corporation of the government of Canada.
