Variations of English is widely being recognized in the ELT context with a growing concern of its pedagogical implications in the field of ESL and EFL. Particularly, the plurality of English is creating a problem for the traditional views of errors, which calls for recognition of innovations in error analysis and error correction conceptions. Research and empirical studies are continually bringing out new suggestions and innovations. This workshop will address some of the existing pedagogy and one way of addressing the error-innovation debate.
BIL Workshop Series:
Notably, the BIL Workshop Series offers language practitioners a common platform to come to know the current approaches, methods and strategies of language teaching; helps raise awareness about the use of classroom language; encourages research on the language classroom and also offers a platform to present research findings.
What makes the workshop series of BIL unique is that it offers a great opportunity for teachers and trainers to participate and conduct workshops, seminars, and plenary sessions. Besides this, it allows one to meet with English language teachers from around Bangladesh and learn from each other by sharing of experiences. So far, national and international English language practitioners and specialists have conducted workshops on diverse interests of language teaching such as reading strategies, critical reading, critical thinking, task-based learning etc. These events may be the seeds for future collaboration of our institutions as well.
