BRAC University
Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) has taken an initiative to encourage entrepreneurship among the students of BRAC University for developing their potentials through a ‘Business Plan Competition’, which will be open for all registered students of BRAC University. The competition is intended to simulate the real worldsituations where entrepreneurs have to organize and develop their ideas, market their visions, create a strategy for executing their visions, and deal with rejections.
Entrepreneurs have been the unsung heroes of our society. The CED wants to recognize their contribution by engendering the spirit of entrepreneurship through providing critical support to young entrepreneurs who have an exceptionally hard time to get their ideas off the ground. Not only does the CED seek to provide financial support, but also to provide an environment conducive to the development of entrepreneurship.
The teams will have to submit a Business Plan consisting the following:
a) Market research; identifying the gaps in the market
b) Economic effect of the proposed venture, such as employment generation, poverty alleviation (if applicable), and solving a social problem
c) Details of the product or service that the proposed business will offer
d) Business plan; delineating rate of return and timeframe for reaching profitability
e) Initial investment requirements and payback schedule;
f) Human resource requirements including key personnel for running the business, and Other additional information pertinent to the proposed business venture.
The winning teams will receive a maximum of BDT 500,000 each as ‘Seed Fund’ as interest free loan for 3 (three) years for implementing the business plan and getting their ideas off the ground. In exchange of obtaining the seed funds, each team has to enter into a formal agreement with the CED. Each team would run their business under the close observation and supervision of CED’s “Business Incubation Centre” which would look after and provide necessary guidance and assistance to the teams.
