The Department of Economics and Social Sciences (ESS) of BRAC University cordially invites you to the Public Lecture on Why Economics?  by Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud, to be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 3.00 pm in BRAC University Auditorium.

Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud is the former Adviser, Ministry of Finance and Planning to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh, Senior Country Advisor of International Growth Centre (IGC), Chairman of South Asia Network of Research Institutes (SANEI) and Economics Research Group (ERG).

The Lecture will feature economic insights for public policy with real life relevance of economic theories of market efficiency, international trade, public goods and rationality of economic behavior, and economic fallacies.

The purpose of this ESS initiative is to demonstrate that the discipline of economics is as useful and stimulating as ever. We begin this Public Lecture series with Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud’s lecture on the importance of Economics which will provoke discussion and address questions that are of importance to students, academics, researchers, policymakers and public in general.
