SAUFEST 5

For the past few years, the Association of Indian Universities [AIU] has been organizing the SAUFEST or the ‘South Asian Universities Youth Festival’ successfully in India and other South Asian countries. Through this festival cultural exchange, thus enrichment takes place among the participants which helps in strengthening the bondage among the countries.

SAUFEST 4 organized by the AIU, was hosted by the Panjab University and held in Chandigarh in February 2009. BRAC University team won the Best Cultural Team and the Best Vocalist Award in that festival. BRACU team had also successfully participated in SAUFEST 3 held in Nepal in 2008. The success in SAUFEST 4 encouraged the university to host the next SAUFEST in Bangladesh. A three member AIU team visited BRACU to discuss further the holding of SAUFEST 5 and an MoU was signed between the AIU and BRACU in January 2010.

We have received, in addition to local participants, lists of participants from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. We are expecting to receive the list from Maldives shortly.
