Feeling comfortable with self and others can bring peace in life. It may take over through healthy relationships and communication. One’s ability to communicate can mean the difference between success or failure in all aspects of living. Communication is one of the prominent factors in understanding life and living it successfully. It is the heart of life and is a basic characteristic of all human beings. Through the communication process, we express ourselves and exchange our energy with others. It helps us to make friendships, fall in love and make positive changes. Unfortunately, communication is not always a positive process. Often people communicate in a way that lead to large scale conflicts, wars because they do not listen to each other, they do not care about the needs of others and they communicate using violence. Differently, people can communicate in a nonviolent way that can ensure self-empathy, empathy and honest self-expression. Nonviolent communication is a process of communication designed to improve compassionate connection to others. Moreover, it has been interpreted as a spiritual practice, a set of values, a parenting technique, an educational method and a worldview.
Therefore, to make the awareness about nonviolent communication the Counseling Unit of BRAC University organized two sessions of the workshop on “Nonviolent Communication” will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 11am-12:30pm and 2:00pm to 3:30pm at BRAC University Auditorium.
