With the interactive teaching learning perspective in view and dedication to promote excellence in teaching, TLC has been organizing faculty orientation workshops on a regular basis at the beginning of each semester to introduce new faculty members to the teaching and learning goals at BRAC University and to provide an early start to successful teaching careers. As a continuation of the development program, the TLC hosted its 16th Faculty Orientation Program from April 29-30, 2015 at the GDLN, BRAC University. A total of 24 new and recently appointed faculty members attended the orientation. The program commenced with opening remarks by Professor Fuad Hasan Mallick, Pro-VC, BRACU, and Dr. Seuty Sabur, In-charge, TLC. Mr. Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, Member, Broad of Trustees, Mr. Ronnie Mirza, Program Manager, Communications, BRAC, talked about the history, values, culture, achievements and synergy between BRAC and BRAC University. Dr. Seuty Sabur, In-charge of TLC conducted session on Teaching as a vocation. Dr. Mohammad Tareque Aziz, Associate Professor, BBS conducted a session on managing first session.
In addition, Effective teaching and learning through interaction and collaboration was conducted by Farrah Jabeen and Evita Umama Amin, faculty members, BIL; Mental Health Counseling at BRAC University by Counseling Unit faculty members; Learning performance and academic performance by OSA & TLC faculty members. There was another important session on Ways of reaching students conducted the Syed Saad Andaleeb, Vice Chancellor, BRAC University. Ms. Shadia Alam, HRD and Md. Aminul Islam provided an overview of HR and administrative policies and IT policies.
A panel discussion was also held moderated by H M Hashemi, Chairperson, ESS and the Chairperson of different Departments, VC and Pro-VC attended the discussion as the panelists. The discussion enabled the participants to meet and discuss teaching issues with senior faculty and chairpersons of different department. The Orientation Program came to an end on the 30th April with informative sessions on BRACU-IT services, Library facilities, BRACU-HR & Accounts which included a brief campus tour.
