Tanveer Ahamed Bin Ali Naser, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Architecture, School of Architecture and Design, BRAC University, participated in the 4th Mediterranean Geosciences Union (MedGU-24) Annual Conference, held from November 25 to 28, 2024, at the University of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain.
He presented his research paper titled “Waterlogging in Chittagong: A Case Study of Mahesh Khal Tidal Canal and Its Periphery.” The paper was co-authored with Dr. Imon Chowdhooree, Associate Professor and Assistant Director of Postgraduate Programs in Disaster Management (PPDM) at BRAC University. Their research highlighted critical challenges of waterlogging in the Chittagong region and proposed potential solutions to mitigate its impact.
MedGU-24, organized by the Mediterranean Geosciences Union, attracted nearly 600 scientists and professionals from across the globe, both in-person and virtually, making it one of the Mediterranean region’s most significant geoscience events. The conference featured diverse scientific sessions, workshops, and panel discussions that addressed pressing environmental and geoscience issues. In addition to the formal presentations, participants engaged in social activities and a field trip, providing opportunities to explore Spain's rich cultural and natural landscape.
