Recently BRAC University Art Society (ASBU) hosted an art exhibition in the university auditorium, on the 9th and the 10th of July from 10 am to 5 pm both days. It was truly an event to behold! - Almost every artwork was mesmerizing to the level that you would find it hard to move on to the next one. It could be easily said that all the artworks were selected after excruciating pain of fair judgment. Moreover, the arrangement of artworks-sketches on a proper side, water color paintings at the front under focus, animated pictures on the back providing a striking contrast, and glass paintings and other abstract arts on another side were a really nice touch. There were even some small sculptures at one corner which would certainly make the paintings jealous if they had feelings! Almost around 210 artworks were submitted by the artists of BRACU and 170 artworks were exhibited. The way the entire decoration was done was far more brilliant than any individual part of the exhibition. The theme of the decoration was based on the famed fictional 'Harry Potter Series'. It is well known that the Harry Potter team recently celebrated their 20th anniversary of releasing the very first book of the series, so as a theme it instantly attracted attention. The whole auditorium ceiling was decorated with golden snitches, flying Keys and paper-made candles, with a big Deathly Hallows dream catcher hanging in the middle. One of the major attractions were the props to take photos with. Among which magic wands, the Sorting Hat and most interestingly, a photo frame with 'Have You Seen This Wizard?' written on it created the most excitement among those who came to visit!. Well, it is impossible to express in words just how things were in the exhibition. But if one has to sum it up in a word or two, one would say it was “Simply fabulous”! On the first day, 9 th of July at 10:00 am the inauguration was done by the advisor Fahmida Saadia Rahman (Senior Lecturer ESS Department) and co-advisor Md. Abdullah Al Mamun (Lecturer BIL Department) of Art Society BRAC University. Some of the other faculties and Pro VC sir showed their presence at the exhibition on the following days. And on the 2 nd day, 10 th of July there was a prize giving ceremony of “Fearless Strokes”- A street art competition which was recently hosted by Alokito Hridoy Foundation and Dhaka North City Corporation at the Banani Wabda field on the 21 st May 2017 and and Art Society BRAC University was announced the winner on the 5 th of June by Alokito Hridoy Foundation through Facebook. The judgment of this competition was made by the likes given by the viewer on facebook and the points given by the judges. By the presence of one of the judges, the cartoonist Syed Rashad Imam Tanmoy and the Chairperson and Director of Alokito Hidoy Foundation Azwa Nayeem and Syeda Tasnima handed over the cheque of BDT 1 lac to the Co-Advisor and the whole team of Art Society and the Officer, OCA Ipshit Tarafdar gave the guests the Crest of Appreciating for their presence and for being a part of the exhibition. Moreover, the participants of the competition were given certificates of participation signed by the Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation on the ceremony.
