BRAC University Proctor's Office, in collaboration with the Savar Residential Campus, organized and conducted three sessions on "Campus Safeguarding" on February 20, 2025, to raise awareness among students and staff, with over 1500 students and staff members in attendance. The Office of the Proctor has been administering robust and comprehensive safeguarding policies and procedures as part of its broader Campus Safeguarding Awareness Campaign. This time the theme of the sessions was “Building an inclusive community by raising awareness on institutional safeguarding”.
University Registrar, Dr. David Dowland commenced the awareness sessions with a welcoming speech. Advocate Farhan Haq, Deputy Registrar, Deputy Proctor and Safeguarding Lead, BRAC University presided over the Campus Safeguarding Awareness sessions along with the team at the Office of the Proctor including Junior Proctors and Officers - Md. Khalid Amirul Islam, Advocate Sabrina Jahan, M. S. Adnan Fahim, Farzana Faiza, and in collaboration with Mir Sadik Faisal, Campus Superintendent, Savar Residential Campus along with other staff members of BRAC University.
Throughout the sessions, the organizers attempted to strengthen commitments to raising awareness and promoting and building a safe and inclusive environment for all members of the BRAC University community. The sessions focused on presenting the notion of safeguarding and campus safeguarding, as well as outlining various academic and non-academic transgressions, consequences, responsible usage of digital platforms, and how to report any concerns or complaints. Discussions included informing everyone on BRAC University's disciplinary rules, processes, and support protocols, as well as emphasizing that personal and institutional safeguarding is everyone's duty.
BRACU’s Proctor Office is implementing a Campus Safeguarding Framework with full measures, ensuring a safer learning environment through joint efforts across the university. The purpose is to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students and staff. The Proctor's Office's primary goal is to establish and implement effective campus security processes and protocols, allowing students and staff to express their concerns and acquire the tools they require to protect their safety.
The Proctor’s Office continues its Campus Safeguarding Campaign to raise awareness and ensure a campus free from all forms of misconduct, including harassment, bullying, and discrimination. Slogans like "Unity begins with You" and "Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility" highlight this effort.
