Mr. Md. Shams Ud Duha, Lecturer at BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), served as the captain and chess player of Bengal Chess Club of Bengal Foundation in the country’s most prestigious chess tournament Premiere Division Chess League, which was held from December 09 to December 19, 2017. In the tournament, Bengal Chess Club became the unbeaten champion.
Mr. Duha’s team included South Asian first Grand Master Mr. Niaz Murshed, two Grand Masters from Georgia Mr. Mikheil Mechedlishvili and Mr. Luka Paichadze, Woman International Master Ms. Shamima Akhter Liza, and former national chess player Mr. Monir Hossain. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Duha previously won three premiere leagues as the captain and manager of Mohammedan Chess Club in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
