BRAC University (BRACU) celebrated Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birthday and National Children’s Day 2018 with underprivileged children of BRAC School, Korail through a daylong event at its Mohakhali campus auditorium on Monday, 19 March 2018.
Organised by the Office of Co-Curricular Activities (OCA) with the assistance of some student clubs, the event first saw a cake being cut and release of colourful balloons.
The children danced, sang, recited poems and drew pictures which were exhibited at one corner. They were also provided gifts and refreshments.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Ansar Ahmed asked the children what they wanted to be in the future. On listening to their thoughts, he suggested choosing an occupation they enjoyed and working hard to achieve their goals.
Registrar Md Foyzul Islam said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started working for people at a very young age and Bangladesh achieved independence under his leadership.
Professor Md Abdul Mottalib, a freedom fighter and the chairperson of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, presented a life sketch of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The event ended with a cultural program by students of BRACU.
Treasurer Shib Narayan Kairy along with senior officials and students were present. Dilara Afroz Khan, Director, OCA, conducted the event.
