BRAC University Film Club organised a workshop on filmmaking on 31 May 2018 at Building 6 of BRAC University’s (BRACU) Mohakhali campus.
The workshop was organised on the third day of a “Satyajit Ray Film Festival” with the objective of encouraging students into taking up filmmaking.
Earlier on 27 and 30 May 2018, some famous movies of Satyajit Ray such as Jalshaghar, Charulata and Aranyer Din Ratri were screened at the BRACU auditorium.
Prominent filmmaker Amitabh Reza Chowudhury paid a visit on the festival’s second day.
Shamim Hasan Sarkar, who runs a Youtube channel, was present at the workshop as a guest speaker. He shared his personal experiences and the difficulties he faced while starting his YouTube channel Mango Squad with students.
Sarkar said a filmmaker must have good taste as films have the capability of spreading positive messages among the masses.
Lecturer MHM Mubasshir of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences was the chief speaker at the event. The task of filmmaking starts with a concept, he said while describing the importance of concept in a film.
He discussed about software, editing tools, cinematography, props, sequence, master shot etc with students. He advised laying importance on studies besides making films.
Later a trailer of a short film, “The Clay”, by MHM Mubasshir was screened.
