Becoming a good leader and team player requires an individual to adopt self-directed training and punctuality, said a Bangladeshi captain of an Indonesia-based airline at a workshop in BRAC University (BRACU) on 21 May 2018.
Addressing students, the pilot, Mohammad Khalid Saifullah, urged running after knowledge instead of money, reasoning that it was the most powerful tool one could acquire to deal with life’s challenges.
A captain is not only a leader but also a team player, said Saifullah, who flies an ATR-72 of PT Wings Abadi Airlines, as a guest speaker while sharing his experience of practicing leadership and communication skills.
The “Communication Development Workshop Series: A Leader as well as A Team Player” was organised by BRAC University Communication and Language Club at BRACU’s Mohakhali campus auditorium.
Saifullah, a retired squadron leader of Bangladesh Air Force, also shared ways and requirements of joining the aviation industry.
The workshop ended with a question and answer session. Lady Syeda Sarwat Abed, founder and director of the BRAC Institute of Languages, was present at the event.
Joining the air force as a general duties pilot in 1994, Saifullah attained a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical science and pursued an MBA in human resources at Southern University Bangladesh before retiring in June 2011.
