Probal Saha, Water Resources Management Specialist, C3ER, BRAC University participated at a Focused Group Discussion on ‘Bridging Gender Gaps in Private Sector Development’ organized by Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) on 8 May 2017 at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. BUILD is a public-private dialogue platform in cooperation with IFC-WBG. The dialogue was aimed at helping stakeholders understand economic opportunities and spur competitiveness for women in businesses, specifically in productive sectors, through the participation of women in active public- private and private-private dialogue processes, said a press release. It also underlined women’s access to incentives, such as facilities related to access to finance, access to imported inputs and services, and access to information and market linkages.
Welcoming the discussants and the audience, Asif Ibrahim, Adviser to BUILD shared some of the endeavors of BUILD and World Bank Group’s global expertise and best practice in this area. Investing in women’s economic participation not only has a profound development impact, but it also makes good business sense for companies and economies, he added.
