The Department of Environment and UNDP Bangladesh jointly organized an inception workshop entitled “National Capacity Development for Implementing RIO Conventions through Governance” to introduce the project to the stakeholders on 11 January 2017 at CIRDAP International Auditorium. A daylong workshop with 150 participants started with active moderation of Mr. Md. Raisul Alam Mondal, Director General, Department of Environment, MoEF. The objective of the workshop was to present the project to relevant stakeholders, partners and experts, community; to inform the project goals, objectives, outcomes and strategies; to inform on the implementation and management arrangements; and to inform on the roles of stakeholders in the project. The inception workshop was graced by Mr. Anwar Hossain Manju MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Environment and Forests as the chief guest. Ms. Kyoko Yokosuka, Country Director, UNDP Bangladesh and Mr.Nurul Karim, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Environment and Forests, HE Sophie Aubert, Ambassador of France to Bangladesh, joined as special guests. Director General, Mr. Md. Raisul Alam Mondal, chaired the workshop. People from different ministries, departments, government agencies, research institutions, universities, NGOs, civil society organizations and international organizations were the participants of the workshop. From C3ER, Roufa Khanum, Coordinator, Operations; Md. Hafizul Hossain; Ibrat Sharif; Saw. Mu. Shamoel Haque; Nureen Faiza Anisha and Sa'ad Abd Ar Rafie participated in the workshop.
