Three BRAC University students have received the Chinese government scholarship that is offered to the students of the Chinese language course. One student from the Chinese evening course has also been accepted for this scholarship. These four scholarship winners are: Md. Nigran Islam Mizan and Takbirul Islam, who got accepted at the Southwest Jiaotong University (Chengdu); Suprio Ranjan Nath, who is going to the Beijing Language and Culture University; and Shebly Sadik Shemul, who got admission at the Beijing Jiaotong University. They are scheduled to depart for China by the end of the month.
Every year BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL) recommends qualified students of the Chinese credit course and Chinese evening course to apply for the Chinese government scholarships. So far, more than 20 students have won the scholarships through the BIL Chinese language course.
It is worth mentioning that in order to promote the mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in politics, economy, culture, education, and trade between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and research in Chinese universities. The China Scholarship Council (CSC), entrusted by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China (MOE), is responsible for the enrollment and administration of these Chinese Government Scholarship programs. The academic programs of Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine, Economics, Law, Management, Education, History, Literature, Philosophy and Arts in 252 designated Chinese universities are available to the scholarship winners. Notably, every year, 160 scholarships are offered to Bangladeshi citizens on the basis of different quota.
