CSE faculty member, Dr. Md. Ashraful Alam, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department, BRAC University attended a reputed international symposium “SPIE Medical Imaging 2018” held at the Marriott Marquis Houston, Houston, Texas, USA from 10 January to 15 February 2018. SPIE is the world’s largest society for Optical engineering and Photonics, including Imaging science. Dr. Alam presented a paper titled “Early Detection, Segmentation & Quantification of Coronary Artery Blockage Using Efficient Image Processing Technique.” This paper is also co-authored by five students of BRAC University – Mohshin Bari Shakir, Mohammad Amzad Hossain, Monirul Islam Pavel, K.M.A. Shams, F. R. Akib. Mohshin Bari Shakir and Mohammad Amzad Hossain also attended the “SPIE Medical Imaging 2018” symposium along with Dr. Ashraful Alam.
Besides attending the symposium, Dr. Alam had a meeting at The American Best Value Inn, Houston, USA with Mr. Syed Imteaz Ahmed, the President of Signal Stream Inc., Canada about Industry collaboration with the CSE Dept. of BRAC University. The Signal Stream Inc. is interested to set an R & D unit at BRAC University under the CSE dept., where potential faculty members and students will be involved to develop Firmware for the Electronic Control Unit (ECU), CAN Bus Analyzer and GUI for Vehicle Automation Industries. Dr. Khalilur Rhaman, Associate Professor of CSE Dept., BRAC University is also involved with this collaboration.
Dr. Alam also visited The Johnson Space Centre at Houston with Mr. Syed Imteaz Ahmed, where they attended a discussion session on NASA Mission Control at NASA Mission Control Centre.
