Dr. Sajidur Rahman, Assistant Professor, C3ER, BRAC University attended at the Dialogue on Developing Work Strategy for the Application of the Overseas Employment and Migration Act-2013. The event was organized by Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU) on 27 April 2017 at the Conference Room of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET), Kakrail, Dhaka. Overseas Employment and Migrants Act was passed in 2013 and an Act to promote opportunities for overseas employment and to establish a safe and fair system of migration, to ensure rights and welfare of migrant workers and members of their families. RMMRU is working on the Fairer Labour Migration (FLM) project supported by British Council to establish good governance in migration sector in Bangladesh. Under the project RMMRU will take a series of initiatives at grassroots level to ensure application of the Migration Act, 2013. Seniors officials of concerned ministries and departments, law practitioners, migrant community and human rights activists shared their experiences and insights in the application of the aforesaid law. Mr. Selim Reza, Director General of BMET attended as the Chief Guest.
