The last meeting of the English Debating Club for Spring Semester, 2001 was held on Sunday, July 29, 2001. A handout containing detailed rules and regulations of the British Parliamentary format of the debate was distributed among all members of the Club. Later, an impromptu debate was also held on the motion: "This House would rather be Good-Looking than Rich". Two guest adjudicators namely Mrs. Nazmeem Haq, Faculty member, Department of English and Mrs. Lima Choudhury, Student Affairs and Coordination Officer, were present to adjudge the debate. The logical presentations and performances of the debaters in this impromptu debate impressed both the judges. As usual, Mr. Mohiuddin, Advisor to the Debating Club, moderated the debate. Mr. A H M Lutful Kabir and the members of his team - Mr. Arman Mursalin Amin, Ms. Fahmida Tani Ahmed and Mr. Md. Nasiruzzaman Choudhury defended the motion. The motion was opposed by Ms. Somaiya Taaj Andaleeb and members of her team - Mr. Ziad Bin Hyder, Mr. Shehabun Saaqeb and Mr. Abul Khair Shah Md. Saifullah. The motion was defeated and Mr. A H M Lutful Kabir and Mr. Ziad Bin Hyder were declared as the best speakers of the Competition.
