On 8 June, two research teams from JPGSPH presented their projects to representatives from BRAC. Breaking the Shame – towards SRHR education for adolescents in Bangladesh project (led by Farhana Alam, Project Coordinator) and the Digital Sister for the Urban Youth: creating digital platform for sexual and reproductive health and rights information project (led by Bachera Aktar, Project Coordinator) presented information and findings pertaining to their respective projects. They were joined by Sabina Faiz Rashid (Dean, JPGSPH), Ahmed Mushtaque Reza Chowdhury (Vice Chair, BRAC; Advisor, JPGSPH), Asif Saleh (Senior Director, BRAC), Abdul Bayes (Director, Research and Evaluation Division, BRAC) as well as other representatives from BRAC’s Health, Nutrition and Population Programme, Research and Evaluation Division, and Urban Development Programme. The purpose of this meeting was to find scope for collaboration between BRAC’s Urban Development Programme and the James P Grant School of Public Health with a focus towards research and activities relation to youth and adolescents which has the potential to change the scope of research in the development sector.
