In 2017, two batches of midwives will be graduating with a 3-year ‘Diploma in Midwifery’. In July, all 163 students (2nd batch A) in five academic sites completed their course requirements. In this connection, all five academic sites (Dhaka urban at Mirpur, FIVDB in Sylhet, GBC-CHP in Mymensingh, LAMB in Dinajpur; and PHD in Khulna) organised colourful graduation ceremonies at their respective academic sites. Health professionals from the locality, midwifery graduates and students, their guardians and faculty members attended the ceremony. Shuriya Begum, Registrar of ‘Bangladesh Nursing & Midwifery Council’, attended the ceremony at the Dhaka site and applauded the initiative.
The outgoing students reminisced about their stay at the dormitory, appreciated the friendly learning environment and the precious moments they have had with juniors and the faculty members. The 3rd midwifery batch decorated the venue in honour of their seniors and wished them luck with their work. As a token of appreciation, DMP gave the graduating students stethoscope, digital thermometer, fetoscope, BP machine and measuring tape in a backpack that read “I am Midwife” in Bengali.
