Share-Net Bangladesh organised a day long Knowledge Fair on SRHR on 3 May at Six Seasons Hotel, Dhaka. At the Fair, Share-Net Bangladesh discussed research findings, lessons learned, policy implications and change in practice of projects and organisations between people working on any issue pertaining to SRHR through interactive sessions. There were three scientific plenary sessions on three major topics of SRHR, which were: child marriage; gender based violence; and menstrual regulation.
Mr Hasanul Haq Inu (Minister of Information, Government of Bangladesh) inaugurated the Knowledge Fair as Chief Guest, emphasising on the importance of issues related to disseminating right based information on SRHR through a knowledge platform. Martine van Hoogstraten (Deputy Head of Mission, the Embassy of Kingdom of Netherlands) was the Special Guest in the Knowledge Fair. Karen T’Hooft (Share-Net International Country Coordinator) was also present in the event, discussing the vision of Share-Net through a short presentation. Dr Annie Vestjens (First Secretary, SRHR & Gender, the Embassy of Kingdom of Netherlands) delivered the closing speech at the event, stating that the Embassy would support Share-Net to work on this vital issue in future.
Almost 300 participants from more than 60 organisations joined the Knowledge Fair. Research findings from different issues of SRHR were also presented through the poster presentations and there was stalls for organisations where they promoted and shared their works.
