Parents' Day of Residential Semester, Fall 2014 was observed successfully on September 26, 2014 at BRAC University Savar Campus. The program was divided into two segments: first was a presentation that informed the parents about RS and BRAC University; and second was an interactive phase where the parents met with their wards and talked to the faculty and staff members, who were present at the occasion.
The presentation session began with two video clips: one was on the “WISE Prize” that summed up Sir Fazle Hasan Abed’s outstanding contributions to the education sector and the remarkable achievements from it; and the other was a speech by Sir Fazle Hasan Abed that clearly stated the rationale behind and the background of the establishment of BRAC University in 2001. This was followed by a discussion focused on RS and its relation to the core of BRAC University. Mr. Rehan Ahmed, Assistant Campus Superintendent, Savar Campus talked about the rationale behind RS, its aim, objective and importance, as well as its features and facilities. In addition, Ms. Farrah Jabeen, Senior Lecturer, BRAC Institute of Languages, BRAC University, talked about the learning environment at Savar campus. Furthermore, Ms. Saffina Binte Enayet and Mr. Saleh Siddique, Psycho-Social Counselors of Counseling Unit, BRAC University gave a presentation on the role of counseling in helping students.
The second segment of the program continued at the BRAC University Savar campus. During this phase, the parents met with their wards and spent time with them. Besides, they also interacted with the faculty members and staff members to share their thoughts and to further clarify their queries about RS.
All in all, the session was deemed as effective and successful.
