Partners for the “Breaking the Shame” project visited the Dhaka team from 21-23 January 2017. Representatives from Radboud University, Dr. Els Rommes and Dr. A Roodsaz met with the project’s researchers to discuss the mid-term workshop (to be held in April 2017) and tools development and selection for the project. The team conducted a workshop with 14 youths at the Unite for Bodily Rights Secretariat on 22 January, with the aim of which was for the participants to gain a better understanding about their unmet needs and concerns in terms of sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as getting their suggestion about tools to communicate those topics better.
The project also held an advisory committee meeting on 23 January to discuss the next steps for the project, including research outcomes, tools development and cultivating an effective advocacy strategy, which will be extrapolated at the mid-term workshop held in April 2017. This was attended by the committee members, including Rasheda K Chowdhury (Executive Director, CAMPE), Dr. Ahmed Mushtaque Raza Chowdhury (Vice chair, BRAC; Advisor to JPGSPH), Farida Begum (Project Coordinator, Bandhu Social Welfare Society), Dr Erum Mariam (Director, BRAC Institute of Educational Development), Quazi Suraiya Sultana (Executive Director, RHSTEP), Rokeya Kabir (Executive Director, BNPS) as well as the research team and its partners.
