Professor Ainun Nishat, Professor Emeritus, C3ER, BRAC University participated the 8th round of Bangladesh-India friendship dialoguefrom 2 July-4 July 2017 at Guwahati, India. Professor Nishat joined as a member of the delegation and resource person and shared his views and opinions on water security and joint basin management; energy security and cross boarder generation and trade in power and managing peaceful and prosperous international boarders and security. The delegation team of Bangladesh with 14 members led by Honorable State Minister for Foreign Affairs from Bangladesh Md Shahriar Alam. The dialogue was organized by Bangladesh Foundation for Regional Studies (BFRS) a associate concern of Friends of Bangladesh, State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) Assam, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies 9MAKALAS) and India Foundation (IF). The theme of the dialogue was “Bangladesh-India Relations: Into a Brave New World.”
The deliberations focused on bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. The dialogue also assessed the possibilities and modalities for designing sustainable and forward-looking mechanisms in joint finance and promotion of both innovative and high-end value-added products and services. It suggested a security and economic vision of South Asia for 2030.The 7th earlier sessions of the dialogue were held in Kolkata, Dhaka, Delhi and Agartola during 2013-2014-2015 and 2016. The next round of the dialogue will be held in Cox’s Bazar next year, according to the declaration.
