Life is full of beauty and potentials; hence, we can enjoy it fully when we can be comfortable, make adjustment with ourselves, others and the world. Students who came to university for higher studies go through the adjustment process with their new surroundings and this adjustment will have impacts on their physical, emotional and social wellbeing.
Therefore, to aware students about the significance of well adjustment, the Relationship Management Office of BRAC University organized workshop in every semester on “Adjustment with Self and Others” with the students of BRAC University girls’ Hostel. During this semester, the workshop was held on January 17, 2017 and it was conducted by Ms. Anne Anthonia Baroi from the Counseling Unit of BRAC University.
The objectives of the workshop were to assist students to know about the meaning of adjustment, different aspects of adjustments, characteristics of a well adjusted person and some effective tools to make university life more productive and enjoyable.
The workshop was started by showing a video presentation on some positive affirmation regarding the true essence of human life, so that the participants can internalize why it is necessary to adjust with themselves and others. Shortly after that, discussion was held on the different aspects of adjustment, followed by doing meditation to deepen their insights about the characteristics of adjusted person. Later on, some effective tools were introduced to make their university life more productive. Students’ contentment expressed through their enthusiastic participation throughout the whole workshop. They also expressed their need to do such workshop more often throughout their university life and also suggested to conduct workshops on other psychosocial issues as well.
