Anger is a completely normal, healthy, human emotion. When it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems—problems in personal relationships as well as in the overall quality of life.
Therefore, to make the awareness about the concepts of anger, two sessions of the workshop on “Healthy ways to deal with Anger” were held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 07pm-08:30pm at BRAC University Residential Campus. The main objective of the workshop was to create awareness among students on how to manage anger constructively. Four members of the Counseling Unit, Ms. Monzia Mushtaq, Ms. Anne Anthonia Baroi, Ms. Kazi Rumana Haque and Mr. Saifur Rahman facilitated two sessions.
The workshop covered topics like the meaning of anger, healthy, unhealthy aspects of anger, cues and myths of anger as well as some effective techniques to manage anger in constructive ways in several situations in life. During the session various methods such as individual, group activities, imagination exercise, think-pair-share were used to make the session interactive and participatory. At the end of the session, an imagery relaxation was conducted with the students to help them learn about how they can manage their anger through imagery relaxation. Students who participated in the workshop shared a great deal of contentment from the workshops.
