Teaching and learning constitute the central and defining activities of BRAC University. We understand that effective teaching involves maintaining a vital relationship with one's discipline, establishing a positive connection to students, and building a bridge between students and the academic material. We also believe that teaching is a multi-faceted art, always in process, never truly perfected. The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) is an arm of BRAC University dedicated to promote excellence in teaching at all levels and enhance student learning inside and outside the classroom. Effective teaching requires not only transferring information on subject matter, it demands a process of interactive teaching and learning which can ensure effective student learning. The teaching techniques should ensure that the students are convinced on the importance of what is being taught encourage their active involvement. This interactive method of teaching and learning will be possible not only through disseminating information and knowledge but also developing capacity of reflective insights, critical analysis, synthesizing, articulating judgment, and evaluating situations. With proper utilization of this method of knowledge dissemination, faculty member will observe learning beyond the classroom by preparing the students to learn, be inquisitive, raise thoughtful questions and be committed from within.
