Md Asadul Islam, PhD

Assistant Professor

Dr. Md Asadul Islam has joined BRAC Business School, BRAC University (BRACU) in January 2022 as an Assistant Professor of Management. Before joining BRACU, he served as an Adjunct Teaching and Research Fellow in the School of Business (AACSB Accredited), Swinburne University of Technology (Sarawak Campus), where he was awarded the Research Success Awards-2020 for his outstanding research publications and supervision of Masters and PhD students. At Swinburne, he taught AACSB-accredited business, management and research courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Dr. Islam also has professional experience working in different multinational organizations, including Education Counsel (UK), Mark & Spencer, Subway, Burger King and Honda in the United Kingdom (UK) during his undergraduate and postgraduate study.

Dr. Asadul has published multiple journal articles in different Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals published by renowned publishers including Taylor & Francis, WILEY, SAGE, Springer, Elsevier, Emerald, Inderscience, IGI Global, and so on. Dr. Asadul has also published two books called "Human Resource Management (HRM)" and "Principles of Management" published by Abir Publications, Bangladesh. He has also published two book chapters published by Palgrave MacMillan and UPM Press. He has also published several editorials in top English newspapers in the country, including The Daily Star, The Business Standard, and The New Nation. His opinion editorials have also been published in Bengali newspapers, including Jaijaidin, Deshkontho, Amader Shomoy and Ittefaq.

Dr. Asadul has also attended numerous international conferences held in Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. He traveled to Tsukuba University, Japan and Nanyang Technology University (NTU), Singapore, to attend international conferences. He won the ‘Best Paper Presenter Award’ in the International Research Conference held at Nanyang Technological Univerisity (NTU), Singapore. He has also virtually attended the conferences held in Canada and Indonesia. He was also invited as a Session Chair at the International Applied Business Conference-2021 organized by the University of Guelph-Humber (UofGH), Canada and International Lifelong Learning Conference-2019, Malaysia.

He has been serving on the editorial board member of Business Informatics Journal (BIJ), International Journal of Business and Management (JIBM) and International Tourism and Hospitality Journal (ITHJ). He has been reviewing research works of many renowned journals published by Elsevier, Emerald, SAGE, Indersciece, etc.

Dr. Asadul obtained PhD in Management from the School of Business and Economics (AACSB Accredited), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia. His PhD research was funded by the prestigious Putra Grant of the university. He obtained an MBA degree (with HRM specialization) from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom (UK). He is also a certified trainer (TTT/21473) awarded by the Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF), Malaysia. He is a trainer and facilitator in HR, Qualitative, Quantitative and Mixed Research, SPSS, PLS-SEM and NVivo.

His research interest includes business management, human resource management (HRM), Green HRM, work-family conflict, stress management, women empowerment, entrepreneurship, sustainability and industry 4.0. He is specialized in both qualitative and quantitative research. He has attained two research project grants, while one of them has been successfully completed and another one is going on.
