Tasmia Kamal
Lecturer
Tasmia Kamal is a Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Brac University. She received her Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree from Brac University in 2017, worked as an Associate Architect in an architecture firm and then started her academic career in her alma mater from 2017. Her areas of interest focuses on integration of art, craft and culture with architecture, landscape urbanism, waste displacement and currently she’s working on flood resilient habitats. As an architect she has worked on several building and interior projects. Besides teaching and practicing architecture, she is also pursuing her Master’s degree in Disaster Management from Brac University.

+–• Panelist of Asian Undergraduate Research Symposium (AURS) held in Japan in October, 2018 AURS provides undergraduates with an exciting opportunity to present and learn from researchers and professionals from around the globe. The day-long symposium will comprise a number of workshop activities and culminate in a poster presentation to be held on Sunday the 14th of October in a special session of the Asian Conference on Education 2018. Undergraduate research paper will be presented.
• Panelist of Kurula Varkey Design Forum, Ahmedabad, India, 2017 Undergraduate thesis project was selected among 200 architectural schools across Asia. Presented the paper and attended the seminar with a chance to interact with renowned architects and other students.
• Awarded with the NOMAN AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN DESIGN, 2016 for the best graduating thesis project. The award is given once every year by eminent architect Khaled Noman, AIA, to a student with the best graduating design project from the Department of Architecture, BRAC University, to enhance student’s active participation in architecture design process. Final year projects are short-listed by the respective studio teachers and a Jury Panel.
• 2ND POSITION, NSU DESIGN CHARRETTE, 2016 Department of Architecture, North South University hosted a day long charrette which was open to architecture students above third year across the country.
• Annual Lunch with the VICE CHANCELLOR FOR FALL 2015 ACADEMIC RESULT Every year our Honourable Vice Chancellor gets to interact with students with outstanding academic results to discuss about the welfare of the institution. One student is nominated from each department for this occasion.
• Awarded with the RAFIQ AZAM TRAVEL BURSARY (RATB) SCHOLARSHIP FOR SRILANKA, 2015 This award is given every year to a student with the best presentation regarding miscellaneous topics. A grant is given in order to explore a new country and acquire knowledge.• Habitat with People: 4th year Project Exhibition, 2015 Housing project in Shatbaria, Jhenaidah exhibited in BRAC University and in the community of Jhenaidah.
