Upal Aditya OIKYA joined the School of Law, BRAC University in May 2024. Dr. Oikya is an awardee of the prestigious Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship to pursue his Ph.D. in International Law (IHL & ICL) at the Doctoral School of Law, University of Pécs, Hungary. During his tenure in Pécs, he worked as a co-lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Pécs, Hungary. He also served the Notre Dame University, Bangladesh as an Adjunct Faculty prior to joining BRAC University. Dr. Oikya worked as an Intern (Research) at the Office of the Chief Prosecutor, International Crimes Tribunal, Bangladesh, under the supervision of Prosecutor Zead-al-Malum, Additional Attorney General. He attended the 9th Potsdam Summer School on “Responsibility & Ethics in Sustainable Science” at Universität Potsdam, Germany (2023); “Justice, Inequality & Inclusion” Project (2022) at the University of Paris Nanterre, France; Twining Project (2023) in Tromsø, Norway; and Sustainable Development Academy at Universität Potsdam, Germany (2021). He served the Doktoranduszok Országos Szövetségének/Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Candidates as an Ambassador (2021-22) and University of Pécs as an International mentor (2020-22). His noteworthy presence can be found in 04 Erasmus+ funded projects held in Poland, Netherlands, Spain & Slovenia, and 02 European Solidarity Corps projects held in Sweden & Greece. He is a follower of transdisciplinary approaches and possesses over 05 years of experience in scientific research and educational activities. Dr. Oikya completed his Master of Laws (LL.M. Maritime Law) from the Department of Maritime Law & Policy, BSMR Maritime University, and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hon's) from the School of Law, BRAC University. His concentration is not only focused on academia (university-level teaching), but extends to pedagogical teaching methods, natural building, social & cultural activism, permaculture, and forest design.
