1. Is there any change in assigning an academic advisor?
Yes, in earlier semesters, advisors were assigned in each semester. From January 2021, a fixed academic advisor is assigned for you and the assigned advisor will advise you throughout your entire study period at Brac University. Any changes in the advisor will be notified to you.

3. Who should I first communicate with for any kind of advising?
With your advisor.
4. Which email address should I use for any kind of communication?
You must use your university provided G suite email with clearly written your name, student id and subject.
5. How often should I meet my advisor?
You should meet your assigned academic advisor once per semester at the time of course advising and registration period. Also, you are strongly encouraged to meet your respective advisor to receive necessary assistance regarding your academic matters, as needed.
6. Can I complete registration without approval from my advisor?
No, you must take approval from your advisor for completing your registration.
7. How long generally it may take to get a reply from my advisor?
Generally, you should get reply within 72 hours.
8. I can’t reach my advisor through email as well as physical meeting. What should I do now?
Please wait for the response from your advisor. If it is very important and you cannot get a response within 72 hours, please send the email to DCO and keep your advisor as CC. DCO will contact your advisor.
9. I am not happy with the advising from my advisor. Advisor has no clear idea about my query. I am seeking permission to change my advisor.
Please forward the reply from your advisor to undergraduate program coordinator and keep your advisor as CC.
10. I am happy with my progression with low grade in a specific prerequisite course. However, my advisor does not want to allow me for the next level course with this low grade of the prerequisite course. What should I do now?
If you fulfil the prerequisite requirement of a course, you can definitely take the course with this low grade of prerequisite course. However, if your advisor feels, upgrading the result of this basic course may help you for future courses, then your advisor can only advise you to repeat the course.
11. Should I search in the FAQs for my query before sending an email to my advisor?
Of course. You should go through all resources i.e. FAQs, Curriculum, Degree Progression Checklist, Elective Course offering plan before sending an email to your advisor. Also, you should regularly check the emails from department.

13. I don’t see my name in the advisee list. What do I have to do?
