3.5 Minor/Open Electives
For minor in an area, two courses (6 credits) are stipulated as mandatory while another one (3 credits) is elective to be chosen from the list of courses mentioned under section 3.4. Courses having “MM” status in the list are mandatory courses for each of the major areas.
Students may opt to graduate without a minor and choose any three 300/400-level courses from any of the BRACU courses. Alternatively, they may select a minor from another school/department of the University. The requirement for minor from other departments/schools can be different in terms of credits required and students should check this requirement from the concerned department/school.
3.6 Internship/Thesis (BUS400)
Internship/Thesis (BUS400) is a mandatory requirement for all graduating students of the BBA program. Under the internship program, a student is required to be placed in an organization where he/she shall work for a trimester and submit a report, followed by a presentation. The intern shall be assigned to a faculty of BRAC Business School as his/her supervisor for providing necessary guidance and evaluation.
As an alternative to the internship, a student may opt for Thesis. The thesis work will require the student to be placed under a supervisor for pursuing research work for a minimum of one trimester. A thesis paper is required upon the completion of the research work, followed by a presentation. A student seeking to pursue the Thesis must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.25.
3.7 Dual Major
Students may choose to pursue a dual major. However, if a course is listed in multiple areas, completion of that course will only be considered for one area. For example: The course titled Marketing on the Internet (MSC446) is listed under E-Business major as well as under Marketing major. Successful completion of this course by a student pursuing dual majors in E-Business and Marketing, will only be considered for one of the areas (in this case, it will be considered under E-Business, since MSC446 is a mandatory course for major in E-Business).
4.For Students of Other Schools and Departments
For the students of other schools and departments, BBS has two offerings – (i) Minor in Business (ii) Major in specific areas of business. Courses for these two offerings are mentioned in sections 4.1 and 4.2 respectively. It should be noted that prerequisite(s) of the courses mentioned in 4.1 and 4.2 should also be completed in order to register in those courses and consequently claim a Minor in Business or major in specific areas of business.
For Minor in Business, students are required to complete eight courses (24 credits) where six courses are mandatory and two are electives. The list of courses for Minor in Business follows:
