This research and collaboration cell runs under the Postgraduate Programs in Disaster Management (PPDM) of the School of Architecture and Design. The cell is set up to plan and carry out many academic, professional, and research initiatives and programs that fall under the broad heading of disaster management and humanitarian aid. Its operations are divided into three main wings:
I. Human Security and Humanitarian Assistance
II. Resilience and Vulnerability
III. Adaptation and Development
• Conducts independent and funded research on relevant issues- resilient built and social environment, climate change policy and adaptation, community vulnerability and resilience, security, emergency management, risk reductions, humanitarian assistance, etc.
• Establishes liaisons and collaborations with national and international organizations
• Provides advocacy and consultancy services for reviewing and editing documents, preparing academic and training program materials, surveying, field study, data collection and analysis, document preparation, finding suitable personals, etc.
• Conducts training and certificate programs on relevant issues.
• Arranges events, like, workshops, conferences, seminars, exhibitions, campaign programs, round-table discussions, etc.
• Provides support through organizing voluntary and non-voluntary services during national and international emergency conditions.
• Conducts policy, planning, and design-oriented research in relevant areas
• Publish academic journals, reports, guidelines, brochures, catalogs, etc.
• Supports academics, students, researchers, and professionals in contributing to the fields of DRR, adaptation, development, security, and humanitarian assistance.
• Offers fellowships to students, researchers, academics, and professionals to get involved in the respective activities of the cell. Four types of fellowships are offered: Student Fellowship; Research Fellowship; Academic Fellowship; Professional Fellowship
