41. How can I plan for taking elective course?
You can plan for elective courses based on the Year-wise Elective Course Offering Plan. You can check the frequency of elective course offering.
42. Where can I get the Year-wise Elective Course Offering Plan?
Generally it is emailed to you before the start of a year. Alternatively, you can get it through the download link. The link is given at the end of this document in the Necessary Documents’ section.
43. What are the criteria for completing elective course requirements?
The elective courses are divided into special areas namely: Power, Electronics, Communication and Network, Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Interdisciplinary and Emerging Topics. Students should follow the following rules while taking to fulfil the elective course requirements:
i. Minimum 9 credits (3 theory courses) must be from one of the areas (excluding Interdisciplinary/Emerging Topics) chosen as specialization
ii. The remaining credits may be taken from any of the areas
iii. Students must take relevant laboratory course, if any, associated with any theory courses
44. What is the criteria for completing double major/concentration?
Complete a minimum of 6 non-overlapping courses (18 credits) and associated labs from two specialized areas. Among these: minimum of 3 non-overlapping courses (9 credits) and associated labs from one specialized area and a minimum of 3 non-overlapping courses (9 credits) and associated labs from different specialized area.
45. I have completed 10.5 credits (3 courses including lab) from one specialized area (e.g. Electronics) and remaining 4.5 credits I want to complete from different area (e.g. Communication). Can I complete my elective requirement by this way?
Yes, it is absolutely fine.
46. Can I complete my 15 credits elective course requirement by taking all elective courses from one specialized area?
Yes, you may complete elective requirement from one specialized area (excluding Interdisciplinary/Emerging Topics).
