A team from EEE Department, BRAC University attended ICAMES (International Cultural and Academic Meeting for Engineering Students) 2018 competition which was held in Istanbul, Turkey during 4-10 May 2018. The topic for the competition was “Green Technology”. Teams of undergraduate students from Canada, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Macedonia, etc. participated in the Bogazici University of Istanbul, Turkey. The only Bangladeshi team “Tech Anthem” from BRAC University achieved a high score in the category “Greenness” among the four categories (Greenness, Concrete, Simulation, Theoretical) with the project named: “An IoT based Plant Growth System for Making Green Country”.
The project has been supervised by Dr. Saifur Rahman Sabuj, Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. The team comprised of Syed Mohammad Kamruzzaman (Team leader, ECE), Monirul Islam Pavel (CSE) and Aminul Hoque (ECE). The project was about a device which features air and soil qualities monitoring system. A machine learning algorithm has been developed to predict the future values to take early decisions based on the gained values in real time in database. The proposed project was one of the most cost effective and less power consuming system among other projects.
