Students of the Department of Architecture, BRAC University attending the Residential semester in Fall 2022 have successfully completed an installation project titled “রোদপোহানো” or “Celebrating the warmth of the sunlight”.
Made from locally available materials such as bamboo, jute, rope and bamboo mat, six installations were built in real scale at various open spaces across the residential campus at Savar. The exercise of such an architectural installation aims to stimulate the cognition of the first-year architecture undergraduate students to build considering nature, sky, clouds, color, light, music and mood of the season.
Students built their projects throughout the residential campus while working in groups of four. They gained knowledge about the quality and behavior of traditional materials through this practical learning. Tanjina Khan, Emmat Ara Khanam, Ehsan Alam and Tarannum Mahmud guided the students while Mohammad Faruk, Rashed Bhuyan, S M Kaikobad and Mohammad Zillur Rahman were the juror of the project.
The students of other departments helped the architecture students in building this project, which resulted in enhancement of their interpersonal skills, team work, friendship and leadership, all of which are key aspects of the RS experience.
