BRAC University’s (BRACU) Ayesha Abed Library and global information analytics business Elsevier organised a workshop explaining the basic features and functionalities of Scopus and Mendeley.
Titled “Following The Research Workflow using Elsevier Tools: Scopus & Mendeley”, the program was held at BRACU’s Mohakhali campus auditorium on 24 May 2018, when faculty members, students and early career researchers were present.
Scopus is an abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature: scientific journals, books and conference proceedings from over 5,000 publishers and includes over 22,000 journals.
Mendeley is a free reference manager and academic social network that helps to organise research, discover the latest ones and collaborate with others online.
Two Elsevier representatives, Tahseen Afroz, solution sales manager-South Asia, and Vishal Gupta, customer consultant-South Asia, gave presentations explaining how to get the best out of the tools.
Gupta gave an overview of Scopus tools to track, analyse and visualise research worldwide in the fields of science, technology, medicine, social sciences, and arts and humanities.
Afroz showed how Mendeley can be used to automatically generate bibliographies, import papers from other research software, find relevant papers and access and read papers on the go from anywhere online.
Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Ansar Ahmed, PhD presented the two representatives crests of appreciation. Dr Hasibun Naher, associate professor of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, was present.
