Rafia Akter Mim, a student of BRAC Business School of BRAC University, has become one of 337 students from 58 countries to have completed all five stages of a fully funded international leadership development program last month.
Aspire Leaders Program is run by independent non-profit Aspire Institute, which was founded at Harvard University. Aspire Institute’s mission is to transform the lives of underserved young adults worldwide and catalyze the leaders of tomorrow to make a positive impact in their communities.
The program candidates receive a host of leadership, academic, and professional development resources through a tiered application structure. They also access self-assessment tools, fully funded Harvard course materials, and live seminars with world-class educators. In addition, they interact with a global and intellectual community while grappling with questions of identity, technology, ethics, and structural change.
Mim has been coordinating youth leadership initiatives for the past few years to create sustainable change in society both nationally and internationally. Her work also centered on women empowerment, youth development and quality education for all with a vision to create a gender-equal world. She has also volunteered in different campaigns of UN Women and UN Volunteers in India.
As an Aspire alumni, she can now further avail access to mentorship, grants, networking, affinity groups, and local ambassador cohorts to create and promote more impactful projects. “We must value and efficiently utilize all the opportunities to unleash own potential, because we might not get everything within one day, but we will eventually. And Aspire made me realize that there’s a lot more impact we can create altogether,” said Mim.
