Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman, Chairperson of BRAC, visited BRAC University on November 26, 2024, reaffirming BRAC’s unwavering commitment to strengthening ties with BRAC University. The visit marked a milestone in advancing the university’s strategic pillar of BRAC-BRACU synergy.
Dr. Rahman was welcomed to the university’s state-of-the-art campus, renowned for its sustainable design and architectural excellence. The day began with a session in the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, where BRAC University presented its ambitious mission, vision, and strategic goals. Registrar Dr. David Dowland provided an overview of the university’s roadmap to becoming a leading institution in the Global South, driven by innovation in education, research, and socio-economic development.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar highlighted the importance of collaboration between BRAC and BRAC University in achieving shared aspirations. “Together, BRAC and BRAC University can be powerful agents of transformative change, fostering innovation and development for the Global South,” he said.
Dr. Rahman praised the university’s forward-thinking approach, describing it as a natural extension of BRAC’s legacy. “Sir Fazle Hasan Abed envisioned BRAC University as a living laboratory for BRAC, where future leaders would be nurtured to contribute meaningfully to nation-building. We are committed to honoring and advancing that vision,” Dr. Rahman remarked.
He also affirmed BRAC’s interest in supporting BRAC University’s campus expansion project and pledged BRAC’s continued collaboration in driving the university’s mission forward. “The synergy between BRAC and BRAC University is a cornerstone for addressing the pressing challenges of our time,” Dr. Rahman added. “Together, we are poised to drive meaningful change across Bangladesh and the Global South.”
The visit included a tour of BRAC University’s innovative campus, culminating in a tree-planting ceremony that symbolized the shared commitment to sustainability and green innovation. “This campus is a testament to BRAC University’s dedication to blending architectural brilliance with sustainable development,” Dr. Rahman noted.
