BRAC University Business Club (Biz Bee) on Tuesday, 17 July 2018, invited over two top executives of leading business organisations at BRAC University’s (BRACU) Mohakhali campus auditorium to share ideas on how to train and act in professional environments.
Inaugurating the event titled “INSPIRATION-learn to lead”, Professor Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury, PhD, dean of BRAC Business School (BBS), suggested students be more professional and prepared for the competitive job market.
The first speaker, senior executive vice president and head of operations at Lanka Bangla Finance Ltd, AKM Kamruzzaman, FCMA, said attitude, vision and action were the three most important qualities they looked for in candidates seeking a job at their institution.
He predicted that many jobs would not exist in the future because of technological advancements.
“Bangladesh is going to be the fastest growing economy by 2050. We have huge potential. For this, we need skilled human resources to accelerate the growth. You have to be aware of the global economy if you want to cope with the pace,” said Kamruzzaman.
The second speaker, Partex Star Group CEO Quazi Mohammed Shahed, said managing oneself was the first step to leadership.
“When you work in a team, at first you have to change your mindset, habits and priorities when you need to manage others,” he said.
Responding to a student’s question over taking risks he said none can be a leader without accepting risks to some extent. Sharing his personal experience he suggested to be calculative and not to act reckless while taking risks.
The speakers were presented crests while BBS Senior Lecturer Md Mamoon Al Bashir, also Biz Bee’s advisor, moderated the event.
