On October 30, 2024, the BRAC University Electrical and Electronic Club (BUEEC) welcomed the incoming Fall 2024 students with a dynamic and meticulously planned fresher orientation for the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department. The event offered newcomers a comprehensive look into the diverse academic, research, and extracurricular opportunities within the department.
Anchored by Nashowah Afif Nuha and Bushra Anjum Priyota, students of the Department, the ceremony began with warm acknowledgments of faculty and students. The welcoming gifts and flowers symbolized gratitude for the contributions of department members, setting a respectful tone for the event.
The program's highlights included an inspiring address by Dr. Md. Mosaddequr Rahman, Professor and Chairperson of the EEE Department, who encouraged students to explore research and develop leadership skills alongside their academic pursuits. His words, "Whatever interests you, get into research. Academic success is important, and it's also important to learn some leadership skills," left a powerful impact, underscoring the holistic approach of BRAC University’s EEE Department.
Associate Professor Mohammed Belal Hossain Bhuian shared personal insights and reflections on the department's evolution, supported by a video presentation. His statement, "We want you to become somebody, not only an engineer," encapsulated the department's vision for students’ personal growth alongside technical mastery.
Musical interludes by students Nishat Mehzabin and Asif added a vibrant atmosphere, while faculty members such as Associate Professor Dr. Nazmul Huda and Dr. Abu S.M. Mohsin presented on the department’s mission, research opportunities, and the broader significance of EEE studies. Upoma Adhikari, Vice President of BUEEC, inspired peers with her reflections on balancing academics and personal interests, while Senior Lecturer Mohaimenul Islam, advisor to BUEEC, highlighted Lasset, IEEE collaborations, and notable student projects.
A soulful performance by Asif Al Mahmud, covering "Bindu Ami" by Tahsan, enriched the program’s close, setting a reflective tone.
Dean of EEE, Arshad M. Chowdhury, concluded with insights into credit systems, extracurricular support, and BRAC University’s pioneering contributions, including the BRAC Onnesha nano-satellite initiative.
