BRAC University hosted its first ever “Faculty Appreciation Dinner” at a five-star hotel in Dhaka recently. This was an initiative by Vice-Chancellor Professor Vincent Chang who wanted to celebrate and appreciate the efforts and accomplishments of the faculty members of the university’s schools, departments and institutes for their contributions to teaching and learning and reflect on the university’s mission.
Treasurer Professor Mahboob Rahman delivered the opening speech, thanking all in attendance for joining the event. Highlighting that this was a unique initiative, he congratulated all the faculty members for their contributions in the university’s journey towards excellence.
Attending as the chief guest, Professor Chang thanked the faculty members for their extraordinary efforts in improving the university’s teaching and learning scenario. He also recognized and appreciated their relentless efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Professor Chang commented that research is a key element in BRAC University’s excellence in higher education, for which the faculty members deserves heartfelt appreciation.
The Vice-Chancellor presented awards to eight faculty members recognizing their extraordinary performance in the fields of teaching and research. They are Dr. Wasiqur Rahman Khan, Professor of the Department of Economics and Social Sciences, Riaz Partha Khan, Professor of the School of General Education, Sadia Hamid Kazi, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Riyashad Ahmed, Assistant Professor of BRAC Business School, Md. Tawhid Anwar, Lecturer of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Tanisha Tabassum Sayka Khan, Lecturer of the School of Pharmacy, Mohaimenul Islam, Lecturer of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Saif Hossain, Assistant Professor of the BRAC Business School.
There were musical performances by Mirza MD. Tanjim Shorif Mugdho and Mirza MD. Tausif Shorif Snigdho, lecturers of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr A S M Shakil Haider, Assistant Professor & Graduate Coordinator of the Department of Economics & Social Sciences, and Dr Sharmind Neelotpol, Associate Professor of the School of Pharmacy. The event was moderated by Dr Mesbah Talukder, Associate Professor, and Namara Mariam Chowdhury, Lecturer, of the School of Pharmacy.
