BRAC University observed “BRAC Day” at its Savar Residential Campus on August 17, 2022 to enable students to have a better understanding about the world’s largest non-governmental organization and its founder, Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, KCMG. The day’s events highlighted Sir Abed’s belief in the power of people, based on which he built BRAC.
Students came to know how for the last 50 years, BRAC has been creating opportunities centering various fields such as human rights, social empowerment, education, health and livelihoods alongside enabling environmental and disaster preparedness in many countries.
Professor Samia Huq, Dean, School of General Education, BRAC University, delivered the welcome speech on the ocassion. As the chief guest, Tamara Hasan Abed, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, BRAC University, delivered a speech on “Connecting dots between BRAC and BRAC University”. Theatre group Prachyanat performed a drama on the theme “Always a way” based on three turnaround stories of BRAC. Moutushi Kabir, Senior Director, People, Culture and Communications, BRAC, moderated a conversation with BRAC University alumni working at BRAC. The program ended with a musical performance by members of BRAC University Cultural Club.
