BRAC University students adjudged winners at mathematics Olympiad

Three BRAC University students have recently secured top positions among 10 contestant who were adjudged winners at a 14th National Undergraduate Mathematics Olympiad (2023).

Atonu Roy Chowdhury (Major in Mathematics), Soumitra Das (Double Major in Computer Science and Engineering and Mathematics), and Nian Ibne Nazrul (Double Major in Physics and Mathematics) secured the first, second, and fourth positions respectively.

The other winners are from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Islamic University of Technology and Shahjalal University of Science & Technology. The winners were presented certificates, memorabilia and cash prizes.

Bangladesh Mathematical Society in collaboration with AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation organized the event at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Dhaka on 10 May 2024 marking the International Day of Mathematics.

The day is observed every year on March 14. This year International Mathematical Union set the theme “Play with Mathematics” for the day.
