To create awareness among students against sexual harassment in public places Brac University’s (BracU) Empathy Lab at Center for Emotional Intelligence and Innovation organised a seminar titled 'Rose for Voice' on Tuesday, 2 April 2019 at the BracU auditorium.
Women are being sexually harassed in public places while traveling on public transports, visiting markets or socializing around their universities in day to day life. Unfortunately, people remain silent and do not raise their voice as they consider this issue as a common practice.
During the seminar titled 'Rose for Voice' students took oath with mass sign to show zero tolerance whenever they see any harassment at public places. Female students promised to speak up whenever they experience any unpleasant situation.
On the other hand, male students promised to behave respectfully with woman in public places as well as to protest whenever they witness any type of sexual harassment.
Students performed their first public performance which includes poetry, short drama followed by discussions based on the theme.
Director of BRAC Institute of Language, Lady Syeda Sarwat Abed was present along with the Director of the Center for Emotional Intelligence and Innovation, Abdullah R Chowdhury.
