The Society for Critical Legal Studies (SCLS) recently organized the ‘2nd Professor Dr. Khabir Uddin Ahmed Memorial Moot Court Competition 2018’ in Chittagong, with the Southern University Bangladesh being the venue for the entire competition. There were 16 participating teams from 13 Universities who were the University of Chittagong, Jagannath University, BRAC University, Comilla Univesity, Daffodil International University, Brittania University, London College of Legal Studies, University of Asia Pacific, Manarat International University, International Islamic University Chittagong, Port City International University, Bangladesh University of Business and Technology and Southern University Bangladesh.

Two teams from BRAC University participated in the competition and after battling out for two days, one team each from BRAC University and University of Chittagong advanced to finals. After a hard fought battle in the final round, the team comprising of Md. Tanzimul Haque, Zeba Farah Haque and Mehjabin Nazrana from BRAC University won the ‘Runners-up’ prize whereas the Championship prize went to the team from the University of Chittagong. Further, Zeba Farah Haque of the finalist team from BRAC University also won the ‘Best Advocate’ award of the competition.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Chittagong Ms. Kamrun Nahar Rumi, the Vice Chancellor Dr. Nurul Mustafa, Treasurer Professor Sarowar Jahan and Registrar Dr. Md. Mujammel Haque of Southern University and Professor Md. Mohiuddin Khaled of University of Chittagong were present in the final ceremony of the competition as chief guests.
