A BRAC University-based student branch of a non-profit of professionals has received an award for the third consecutive time for its efforts in helping students build critical skills.
The IEEE BRAC University Student Branch was presented the “IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award 2022” by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) on October 10. The IEEE describes itself as an amalgamation of communities working towards advancing technology while inspiring future generations through publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.
The award is presented annually to student branches having an active program of meetings and field trips and active in the paper, device and other competitions. The student branch must also strive to meet the scientific, educational, and professional purposes of the IEEE and conform to its bylaws.
“For exemplary performance as an active IEEE Student Branch offering technical programs, activities, professional networking opportunities that enable members in building critical skills,” reads the award certificate. The IEEE BRACU Student Branch was established in 2008 and currently has got four chapters.
In his reaction, the branch’s counsellor, Prof AKM Abdul Malek Azad, said the branch has “come a long way from its humble beginnings to become well recognized as one of Region-10, Bangladesh Section's most prodigious chapters”.
“As an industry standard for engineers, scientists, researchers, and educators, IEEE has upheld the mission of advancing technology for a better tomorrow. Keeping this mission statement in mind, IEEE BRAC University Student Branch has been devotedly contributing to technological breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity while carrying the torch of IEEE's goal to the highest degree of professionalism.”
“We anticipate the IEEE BRAC University Student Branch to break new ground in the future year,” he added.
