On January 8th, 2025, the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department at BRAC University hosted the Fall 2024 Final Year Design and Project (FYDP) showcase. The event featured the culmination of nearly a year’s worth of work by senior students who poured their creativity and dedication into their projects. The showcase provided an opportunity for students to present their innovations, receive feedback, and engage in knowledge exchange with faculty and peers.
Distinguished guests at the event included Dr. Syed Farhat Anwar, Vice Chancellor of BRAC University, and Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, Dean of the BSRM School of Engineering, both of whom reviewed the student projects. Other attendees, including advisors and faculty members, offered constructive feedback. Dr. Md Mosaddequr Rahman, Chairperson of the EEE Department, Dr. Mohammed Belal Hossain Bhuian, and FYDP Chairman Dr. Abu S.M. Mohsin praised the students for their exceptional dedication and innovative approach.
Seven projects were displayed, each representing a unique solution developed by one of seven groups, under the mentorship of 19 advisors. The showcased projects included a Survivor Location Broadcast System, Real-Time Physiological Monitoring, Pyrosentry Fire Localization, Smart Drip Irrigation, Net Zero Energy Management, IoT-Enhanced Fault Detection, and a Hand Gesture-Controlled Wheelchair.
Dr. Belal Hossain commented, “Technically, the students did exceptionally well. The feedback provided will help them improve further, and I encourage our juniors to take their FYDP seriously, as it presents immense opportunities.”
Dr. Abu S.M. Mohsin urged students to connect with industry professionals working on similar projects to gain practical insights and build on their academic learning.
This year, the evaluation process was modified, with advisors evaluating projects from groups other than their own. Each student was assessed out of 20 marks by their respective advisors. The event culminated in a prize-giving ceremony where Dr. Md Mosaddequr Rahman lauded the students for demonstrating strong project management skills throughout the process.
The FYDP showcase proved to be a motivating event for students, boosting their confidence and providing valuable insights for those preparing their own projects, with the goal of creating a meaningful impact in the future.
